Conference Overview

The Queensland Orthopaedic Registrars have the privilege of hosting the national registrars conference this year.  I will be convening the conference assisted by Shane Prodger, the scientific convenor. We have formed a very enthusiastic committee and are well into finalizing the arrangements with the dates and venue confirmed and overseas speakers being arranged.

This years event will be held at The Sebel hotel in Cairns, Queensland from the 15th to the 18th of October. The format will be similar to previous conferences. We are also pleased to announce that Marilyn Strauss will be providing administrative and event support as she did for AORA 2004 (Gold Coast) and AORA 2005 (Rottnest). AORA 2007 (Victoria)

With the AOA Annual Scientific Meeting in Cairns October 12-15,  this is an opportunity to attend both the ASM and AORA Conference.

There will be 3 scientific sessions (Thursday, Friday, Sunday) and with the anticipated increase in the number of presentations, presentation times will be reduced to 5 mins + question / discussion time.  The social activites will take in the natural attractions around Cairns,  including golf, Kuranda and a reef  trip .

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, I would like to invite you to attend AORA 2009.

All trainees nationwide are encouraged to attend and given leave from their respective units to participate in what will be a very high standard scientific meeting and diverse social program.  The conference is unique in that it gives all registrars an opportunity to present quality research to their peers and network with other registrars in the training program. After receiving this letter, please submit your leave forms into your respective hospitals ASAP to ensure your attendance.

The AORA conference is an important time for us to relax and catch up with each other socially.

The meeting also offers you the opportunity to fulfill your training requirements of presenting a paper at the national level earning 1 point for each paper presented.

There is also a chance to win the Allan Frederick Dwyer Prize
